I am trained as a Latin Americanist and Communication scholar, and I have a lifetime of experience as an educator and a producer of digital media. My doctoral training has provided me with a strong background in critical theories of the media, multiple qualitative and quantitative research methods, all stages of digital media production, and numerous opportunities to undertake collaborative projects with graduate students and faculty across disciplines and academic divisions. Additionally, I bring with me over twenty years of first-hand experience in print journalism, desktop publishing, graphic design, webpage design, and videography.
For over two decades I worked as an educator throughout the most diverse communities of San Diego, teaching world history to ESL students in Logan Heights, digital video production in Mountain View, and communication theory in La Jolla. I have produced hundreds of multi-media artifacts, I belong to multiple academic and professional associations, and have authored numerous educational resources useful for professional development and classroom instruction.
